No sound? No eagle?
No sound? No eagle?
I had this game on my familys old Apple II as a kid, and I played it relentlessly. Relentlessly! I knew every sound, every movement. This, along with Conan, was my absolute favorite game. I did not expect to ever get to play it again (save for maybe a poorly executed remake on an emulator) but here it is!
Anyone who said this is too hard hasnt played any old NES games and dont grow up on any games pre 2005. This is a great classic I actually missed out on growing up. It was challenging and a little short, but it was fun!
Just like the original
Loriginal ! 5/5
Thank you Jordan Mechner for this awesome game, and for the memories. Its perfect. The modern version is fun too.
So this is how the side scrolling fighter genre began. fluid gameplay, very easy controls, freedom of bowing, and wow options to change lighting is awesome
Cant believe my favourite game from our old Apple ][ is finally out for iOS. Wow was it really almost 30 years ago I played this!?!? And still excellent. Only two faults and both stemmed from an incoming call--the game didnt auto-pause when I took the call and when I resumed the sound was gone. The gameplay, however, is perfect!
Faithful remake of the original. Added a rewind feature mid-way through the game to minimize unnecessary frustration. Brings back great memories of the past - and still fun. Would be good if they enable options to add a bit more to the game. I seem to remember some hackers modified it to include super moves like flying kicks (as a non-playable movie) - and it would be so cool if they can incorporate that in now as a feature that can be enabled.
I kicked some bad guys and a bad bird. I have finally saved and kissed Mariko (she can kick too if you dont behave:) 30 years ago in Poland when I was 9 I had not been this successful on my Atari 800xl... Now thanks to my ... karate skills I have managed. Rewind option contributed very much though. You got me time travel from the UK to Polish childhood for cheaper than a pound. Thank you so much ! Must have if you ever play this on atari or commodore :)
Boring. Terrible graphics sound and controls.
With updated well implemented UI. Highly recommend.
All like more than 25 years ago, including sounds of the Disk ][. Princess will be rescued! Fantastic game!
The controls are perfect, made for the iPhone. Very playable and the graphics are 100% faithful to the original Apple II version that I used to play a lot. Thank you very much! The developer Olivier Goguel is the man! And of course thanks to Jordan Mechner as well! Five thumbs up!
An extremely faithful reproduction of the original (Apple II version) complete with monochrome monitor options and simulated disk loading sound effects. Dedicated buttons for all the attacks (high, mid, and low punches and kicks) make it easier to string together combos in rapid succession (quite a departure from wrestling with a single button joystick 30 years ago) which in turn makes the game itself a bit less challenging for experienced karatekas. iPad/iPhone compatibility and a 99 cent price point make this one trip down memory lane worth taking!
I was worried about controls, it does alright. If you played this as a child...its A must!
Just awesome. Loved playing it as a kid and love playing it now. Great implementation of it too.
This is old Karateka you know and love from 1984. It is rather basic by todays standards, but it is still a fun game and for anybody who remembers this from back in the day, the nostalgia factor on this one will be huge. That the game plays a sound of an old 5.25" drive running as it loads made me smile. For a mere buck, you really cant go wrong. Youll spend twice that on a cup of coffee today.
Just like the classic Commodore 64 game I played way back when... Got this on both my iPhone and my iPad... Love this, thx so much!!
